this culture war needs to turn into an economic war. [03 Nov 2004|12:45pm] Progressives need to become loud in this country, not only in an audible sense but in a visible sense We need to make our presence known as the right wing fascists have made their views known without fear of repercussion They've managed to use the word "liberal" with power to change people's minds about what liberal really means We need a massive public relations shift We need to reclaim progressive and revolutionary roots It is no longer ok to satiate ourselves and appease the right by supporting moderate Democrats This is something we can no longer afford By imitating them, we give them validity We must separate ourselves into something else entirely We need to be the abolitionists of our day Everyone must understand that liberals and progressives champion for the nation's poor This is not about heterosexual versus homosexual or black versus white The American struggle is a class struggle and an economic struggle Our nation's poorest people have been duped into changing the basis of their vote based on fantasies of morality and values This large segment of the population no longer votes in its own interests but rather against their own livelihood If we are going to talk to about values, we need to talk about it in a larger sense which includes disastrous economic policies, poor healthcare, poor education and job loss I challenge it in my everyday life If I witness someone say or do something that does not resonate with me, I'm quick to point it out no matter what the result It is no longer acceptable to allow these people to voice their propaganda I will mute them at every turn and replace what they've said or done with truth I'm a proud liberal, my politics are progressive, I care about my country but above all, I care about humanity Nationalism doesn't get me excited, people thriving and living free and happy lives do I want vast radical change and this is nothing I should be ashamed of They should be ashamed, not us We have nothing to be ashamed of love, Poly P.S.
